First of all, being outside on the porch/balcony is just amazing right now, and being out here just made me realize how much my life has changed since last summer.

Take it for what it is- but recently I have dealt with one of the biggest let downs in life, and one of the most exciting moments in my life. Experiencing the two within 4 months of each other was quite interesting. Obviously, the biggest let down was the death of my Uncle. June 18th, 2007 I blogged on Myspace about my Uncle and how he was getting better. Cancer is so unpredictable- and I was so naive when It came to hanging on every bit of hope they gave us. I was kidding myself almost the whole time–and it’s almost like Im in some state of shock-like I never saw it coming when it was plain as day infront of my face.  He died February 26th– and here it is months later.

On the other hand- I just got back from Europe a week ago tomorrow. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Denmark. London I could leave out- Paris- romantic, Amsterdam- A huge Rhinebeck that I really would love living in, and Denmark- Great. I loved it all- and it was quite the experience I had been waiting to do for quite some time–since High School. AND I got to do it all with George– who I met last summer, and have my heart totally set on.

Life is good.

It’s pretty unbelievable that I’m going to be really far away this time next week!

On Friday at 9:30 I fly out of JFK to London. Then Sunday, I fly to Paris. Then Wednesday, I fly to Brussels. Take the Train into Amsterdam, then two days later I fly to Copenhagen to see the fam (hopefully.) Maybe a little Sweed action will be thrown in, but we’ll just have to see what happens.  Just bought myself a new camera, and I’m a little undecided on weither or not I want to actually bring my motion camera and film over there. I’m sure I will, but I’m trying to pack lightly cause I’m pretty much going to be Jet setting every 2-3 days. I hope American Airlines turns into Club AA (haha- how great is that?) on this flight cause I’m going to flip out being over the ocean..I need to NOT think about it. I’m sure I’ll turn it into CLUB AA though— and when I say club AA I mean……..I’m going to get buzzy and just SLEEP.

So, Let’s talk. I’m a little bewildered as to what goes on in people’s heads nowadays. I don’t know what it is– maybe whoever wrote this has parent’s that hate them, or maybe it’s just because It’s that time of the year–finals time. You know– everyone rushes to get their final projects done, and enjoy their summer…yadda yadda yadda. My CSIS class asked I do a presentation on a topic of our choice– And mine I present you– “Why mass breeding is Unethical” (Get Me? is that question presented well enough to you?). As you read this right now, there are hundreds of cages packed full of dogs with disease, (not all are diseased, but think of disease in a community standpoint, it can spread like wildfire) and have been forced to breed multiple times. These farms– “Puppy Farms” are looking soely at QUANTITY, NOT QUALITY. Dogs are being starved, and never even being allowed to hit the grass and run and live the life of a regular dog. Why are these animals being robbed of a right they where born to have? This is not understandable. The vicious process runs like this: Mass breeding at the farms—>brokers buying the puppies—>And you know tractor trailers? like 18 wheelers? no doors, no windows, no ventilation? They pack the dogs in there, and if the dogs make the cross country journey great- and if they don’t no sweat.—>To the pet store—>To your home.

Have you ever been to the SPCA? Think about the SPCA and what it stands for– and what it is right in– (Overpopulation) and think about what the western states are doing on these farms.

With that said– A comment I was left in regards to my presentation:

The majority of the presentation was emotion based and biased to no end with pictures of dying (exaggeration) puppies. Just as the protesters have the right to do so, the animal mills have the right to sell them. The only right an animal has is the right to be subjective to a human.

Now, I’m not mad in the least that someone had a obviously cowardly and lame attempt at trying to “serve me” I’m mad at the fact that this IS in fact a one-sided point-of-view story. How are pictures of dead puppies an exaggeration? how is death exaggerated? death on some accounts is the outcome of fowl play, and this my friend, IS fowl play. Protesters have the right to protest– we are given the right and we are even protected by it. How it is exaggeration? please tell me. I believe you are just not wanting to believe what you see. Animal mills are adding to the population of the millions and millions of already homeless sheltered dogs–or are they? What happens when that cute $2,000 puppy becomes a dog and doesn’t sell at the mall and a truck comes to pick it up? Do a little research my friend. The main issue with mills is how they are doing things. They are mass breeding facilities done in RUTHLESS conditions. If you can’t be sympathetic of the treatment of poor defenseless animals, then I honestly believe that you do not have a heart.
